The tablet market is burgeoning and more and more players are joining it in order to get their piece of the pie or obtain a greater chunk if that’s possible. The madness seems to be contagious and following the release of the iPad this April just very lazy and shortsighted management of a company failed to mention several times that their company was going to join the manufacturing process, deliver a fabulous gadget which would satisfy all consumers' needs and take the company to the industry front.
Most companies were determined to release a tablet if not just in several months but by the end of the year, making them one of the best Christmas presents available. But Christmas is coming and just few promises have been kept and only several tablets have hit the market. The reasons for such disappointment are numerous and some of them are really worth mentioning.
Some private mobile OS can not be used for third-party manufacturers. Neither Apple, nor RIM, nor HP would gladly welcome competitors in their own domain. So, what has remained is either the Android platform or the Windows Mobile as it is yet unclear whether the WinPhone 7 is suitable for tablets. At first the Android seemed to be one of the favorites in that struggle.
Released this summer, the current iteration of the Android OS, called Foyo, in fact, took Google’s platform to the top positions at the mobile market delivering all the functionalities a modern user might want. So, it became a number one choice of third- party tablet manufacturers. There were a range of them who were quick enough to announce an Android tablet of their origin which would hit the market in autumn. But the reality turned out to be quite tricky. Or it was Google, to be more precise. Some time ago Google’s representatives announced that Froyo is not optimized for tablets. What’s more, they chose extremely nice time for that when a range of tablets running it were about to be released to the market. Such traitorous deed accompanied by the announcement that those tablets will not be allowed to use apps created by Android developers and displayed at the App Store was really shocking. Some companies preferred to cut down their programs hoping for a better chance to enter the tablet market while others decided to proceed with what they had already developed.
The tablet market being a nascent industry is, nevertheless, quite a promising sphere which virtually can provide huge benefits and revenues.
But independent mobile platforms are not numerous and even those available may contain some unexpected tricks, like the Android Froyo does, for example.
